The sombrero vueltiao is a symbol of Colombian pride. Being a colombian family business, the goal was to transport those who walk in to Colombia, hence why the sombrero was so important as being at the forefront of the brand. The names sake of the cafe is Macondo, a famous place in One Hundred Years of Solitude, a story about love, finding home in unexpected places and of course the symbol of hope, the yellow butterfly.

The brand utilizes shapes found within the traditional pattern of the sombrero on it's branded materials. The triangular pattern introduces color and history into every application. The typefaces used blend highly ornate fonts with custom adjustements with typewritter elements to tie in the inspiration taken from the famous story of Macondo.
